Woodlands Division
Terminal Forest Products manages three Forest Licenses, covering approximately 350,000 acres of forestland in British Columbia. Two are in the Sunshine Coast Timber Supply Area and the other is in the Soo Timber Supply Area. Timber from these areas supplement the logs we purchase from external suppliers to meet our sawmill requirements.
We believe, that our future success can only be secured through the environmental practices we utilize in our forests today. A long list of forest values, ranging from threatened and endangered species to water quality and visual impact, are evaluated to determine the most economically and environmentally appropriate timber-harvesting method.
Re-forestation initiatives require that we plant a new crop of trees in every harvested area. These new trees are tended until every cut block is fully occupied. We plant approximately 250,000 new trees every year and tend them for another ten to fifteen years until they are "free to grow".
Long-term planning is key to developing our timber areas efficiently and ensuring our future options:

Our forests are certified by two internationally recognized standards.
The International Organization of Standards (ISO) certified our Environmental Management System (EMS) under ISO 14001 and the American Forest and Paper Association (AFPA) certified our Sustainable Forest Management Program under their Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) 2005 Standard.
